The Acorn Group offers a range of services in interpretive and educational master planning, exhibit design, curriculum development, and evaluation. Current and past projects are summarized below.

The Acorn Group and the catalog division, Acorn Naturalists, are long established firms in the fields of education and interpretation. We are incorporated in the State of California and certified as a Small Business and Women's Business Enterprise.

San Francisco Peninsula

Madrona Marsh Preserve and Nature Center

Interpretive planning and exhibit design in the Preserve's nature center, showcasing the rarity of vernal wetlands in the heart of Southern California. In collaboration with Bang! Creative and the City of Torrance, Torrance, California (in process).

National Disaster Search Dog Foundation

Development of the sign plan for the Foundation's National Training Center, a 125-acre campus in Santa Paula where canines are paired with firefighters and other first responders who learn how to become disaster search teams. Our work includes design and fabrication of campus wayfinding signage, donor recognition media, and interpretive media (in process).

The Holden Arboretum

Planning and development of interpretive media for the Arboretum's new Forest Canopy Walk and Emergent Tower, a two-part experiential structure in the heart of a hardwood forest, Kirtland, Ohio (in process).

Railtown 1897 State Historic Park

Development of EEI-based K-12 units of study for Railtown 1897 State Historic Park, one of the only two continuously operating historic steam locomotive roundhouse and shop complexes remaining in the United States. The Water Center

Anza Borrego State Park

Planning and development of new interpretive panels throughout this 615,000-acre California State Park in collaboration with Stone Imagery. Work includes writing, design, and layout of 75 interpretive and orientation panels, for California State Parks, Borrego Springs, California, 2015-2016.

Fakahatchee Strand
